THE BEEN WALA or the snake charmer.

This picture refreshes my memories of childhood in a small village in India. I am sure when my brother looks at this painting; he will feel the same way as I do.
What do “Been Wala’s” or Snake charmers do?
They own snakes and keep them in woven basket that they carry. They perform from village to village in India which last for few minutes.  Mostly it’s the king cobra that dances to their tune.

"Large numbers of snake charmers once could be seen walking the streets of cities and towns, their cloth-covered baskets hanging from bamboo poles slung across the shoulders.
But such sights are increasingly rare, as snake charmers become an endangered species".
